What to expect
I'm so glad that you have taken the time to consider reaching out for support. Beginning is often the most difficult step. A wonderful thing is that you already have experiences that will provide support on your therapy or coaching journey. Our work together will build on all of the things you have done to make it this far. Your existing strengths, past experiences, work with family, friends, professionals, and other support resources, will be integral to the foundation of our work together.
My professional style is casual and typically a combination of evidenced based practices in cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, acceptance and commitment therapy, and mindfulness. The benefit of having used many of these different orientations over the years is that I tailor these approaches to what you feel works best for you.
How long does therapy and / or coaching take? This answer is individualized and ultimately determined by you with some input from me. I do not strictly follow the traditional model of seeing someone on a weekly basis for months on end. I prefer to partner with clients to determine how often we meet. And those choices may change depending on the many life circumstances and demands that occur and change over time. Typically, I meet weekly or bi-monthly for the first 4-8 sessions and then we begin to decrease or to maintain, as needed.
I meet clients online via Zoom or in my Bethesda, MD, office. At this time, I do not accept insurance.
